Memory and Commemoration – conversational urban walk through Okopowa Jewish Cemetery in Warsaw

Program

We invite you to join us for a conversational urban walk through the Jewish cemetery in Okopowa Street during which we will discuss hidden stories of the site. We will find traces of the past located at the threshold of visibility: such as war-time hideouts & recent archeological discoveries. We will explore the cemetery both as a site of memory and culture as well as the site of nature. The walk will also open up space for discussing potential ways of commemorating some of the stories and locations that will be visited in reference to examples of commemorative strategies that can be found in the cemetery.

Where: main entrance to the cemetery (Okopowa 49/51, Warsaw)
